Clearing and planting at Pirongia Lodge

Last week Room 7 joined Pirongia School's  year 7-8 class for a clearing and planting day at the Pirongia Lodge outdoor classroom. It was hard work planting over a few hundred trees. In a few years the classroom will be surrounded by native trees and bush

When we first got there we carried the plants down and began planting. We were in pairs one of us dug the hole and the other planted the tree. I was with Breanna. She spent forever digging a hole for this fern.
"Its not big enough yet, the plant won't fit in the hole," I kept saying.

It was annoying how the blackberry stuck to our pants and we couldn't get it off.

I think the plants will look really cool when they grow a bit and the outdoor classroom will be perfect to teach kids about nature.
